OED Community Conservation Challenge (CCC)
DEADLINE: 11/10/11-- The Indiana Office of Energy (OED) opened the Community Conservation Challenge (CCC) as of October 11, 2011. $1.2 million is expected to be available for community-wide energy efficiency, renewable energy or alternative fuel vehicle retrofit projects to local units of government, school corporations, businesses, and nonprofit agencies in Indiana. Grant amounts per project could range from $25,000 to $500,000.
Eligible technologies include; alternative fuel vehicle fleets, combined heat and power, biomass, energy efficiency, geothermal, solar, traffic signal retrofits, waste management and recycling, water systems, hydropower, and wind energy. For more information, visit http://www.in.gov/oed/2645.htm.
GATES FOUNDATION – INNOVATIVE HEALTH AND AGRICULTURAL PROPOSALS FOR GRAND CHALLENGES EXPLORATIONS INITIATIVE
DUE: 11/17/11 – Grants of $100K will be awarded to scientists, inventors and entrepreneurs from around the world working to advance global health and development research. Successful projects may receive additional funding of up to $1 million. For more information, visit

BEGINNER FARMER AND RANCHER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
DUE: 11/22/11-- USDA requests proposals from beginner farmers and ranchers with the tools and strategies that will increase their sustainability. Projects will be funded through (1) Standard Projects; to new and established local and regional training, education, outreach and technical assistance initiatives that address the needs of beginning farmers and ranchers in selected ares; and (2) Educational Enhancement Projects: To help develop seamless beginning farmer and rancher educational programs by conducting evaluation, coordination and enhancement activities for Standard Projects and other non-funded beginning farmer programs. BROWNFIELDS CLEANUP GRANTS
DUE: 11/28/11 -- EPA requests proposals to carry out cleanup activities at brownfield sites throughout the country. Eligible applicants are property owners with the presence of hazardous substances, pollutants and contaminants or properties contaminated with controlled substances or mine-scarred lands. An eligible entity may apply for up to $200,000 per site. Due to budget limitations, no entity can apply for funding cleanup activities at more than three sites.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
DUE: 2/17/11 -- NSF requests proposals with the goal of promoting sustainable engineered systems that support human well-being and are compatible with sustaining natural systems. $5.4 million expected to be available. DCEO BIOMASS & BIOGAS TO ENERGY GRANT PROGRAM
Applications are considered on a rolling basis through April 30, 2012 -- DCEO requests proposals for projects designed to use biogas or biomass as a source of fuel to produce electricity with combined heat and power (CHP) through gasification, co-firing or anaerobic digestion technologies. Grant awards up to 50%; maximum of $500,000 for biomass projects and $225,000 for biogas projects. SECTION 1603 (The American Recovery and Reinvestment Tax Act of 2009) - PAYMENTS FOR SPECIFIED ENERGY PROPERTY IN LIEU OF TAX CREDITS
DUE: 10/1/12 -- The U.S. Treasury makes payments to eligible persons who place in service specified energy property and apply for such payments. Eligible property under this program includes only property used in a trade or business or held for the production of income. To be eligible, a property must be placed in service from 2009 - 2011 or after 2011 but only if construction of the property began during 2009 - 2011.
